Self-compassion - cliché but necessary?
In a drop 🩸: self-compassion has maybe become another over-used word, but is it because we need to hear it??
"Self-compassion, self-compassion, self-compassion" I silently repeat whilst pulling my hair out over something insignificant.
Joking - but in all seriousness: how hard is it to *actually* have self-compassion?!
I find it bloody difficult, and I know I'm not alone. So when I meet someone who has clearly built their self-compassion, I'm in admiration.
And that's exactly what happened in this week's podcast episode snippet, with Naida. Now don't get me wrong, noone is compassionate to oneself always in all ways. However, some have worked on it more and are one step ahead!
Nowadays, I often roll my eyes when I hear about "self-compassion" because it's cliché, over-used, and so much easier said than done.
But perhaps it's worth repeating? Because we're all so terrible at it? (especially women)
Leaning into and learning about our menstrual cycle innately involves self-compassion. It's about giving ourself the grace when we're not feeling it, and appreciating that we don't have to be 100% each day.
Some self-compassion for the weekend:
🩸ask yourself what exercise your body wants - if at all
🩸accept your cravings if / when in your luteal and menstrual phase (it's natural )
🩸talk to yourself like a friend if you're going through a tough time
🩸allow yourself to go play !
You're bloody amazing.
